Another day, another scam. This ones not new, but its been making the rounds again. Weve received several reports in the last few days of a scammer contacting Rapid City residents, claiming to be with the IRS. The scammer says theyre investigating fraudulent tax payments, or that the caller is delinquent on their taxes. Most of the residents have hung up on the caller (as they should!) but a few have been asked to go purchase a prepaid debit card. Remember, the government will not ask you to buy prepaid credit cards, or to give out any of your banking or credit card information over the phone.
