Another episode in my humble efforts to engage in Ecumenical dialog: We encounter many people at the Villa from the United Church, and usually have amazing friendships with them, as they recognize the Genius of Pope Francis and the beauty of the RC. But once in a while,it happens that a person will make a statement like the one I heard tonight : the Roman Catholic Church isnt very social. I at first asked him to clarify what he meant (the fact that I did that I think was my lesson of the night. Never assume you understand what people are telling you. Always ask for clarification)...he said theres isnt a sense of community. Priests never come talk to you after the mass...I wonder what Church hes been too. Anyways, I challenged him a bit in that department, and he eventually changed his statement a little to say that People that go to mass in Cathedrals dont have a sense of community. I still dont buy that...but my time with this guy was limited, and I didnt want to turn this into a whole conflict. But we had much in common, so Ill focus on the positive in this exchange, and wait for the next episode to unfold!!
