Another from our colleagues in SEM-SP: SOCIETY FOR ETHNOMUSICOLOGY/SOUTHERN PLAINS CHAPTER Call for Papers, 2015 The Society for Ethnomusicology/Southern Plains Chapter (SEMSP) is pleased to announce its annual meeting to be held on April 11-12, 2015 at Texas A&M University in College Station. The SEMSP Program Committee invites all SEM members as well as other students, faculty, and scholars to submit proposals for papers, panels, poster sessions, roundtable discussions, workshops, and audio-video presentations. We actively encourage submissions that reflect the breadth of scholarship in modern ethnomusicology, including the areas of popular music, music and human rights, applied and medical ethnomusicology, and the impact of politics and globalization on music performance, reception, and consumerism. Students are invited to submit their papers to be considered for the Vida Chenoweth Student Paper Prize. Those who submit proposals will be notified of their acceptance or non-acceptance by February 22, 2014. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE JANUARY 15, 2015. All papers will be 20 minutes in length, followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer period. Those wishing to read papers or give presentations should submit a proposal following the guidelines below. Those proposing panels should submit an abstract for each panelist as well as for the session as a whole. Roundtable proposals should include an abstract, a list of CONFIRMED participants, their academic positions, and the role that each participant will have on the roundtable (e.g., moderator, discussant, etc.) E- mail submissions to Dr. Andres Amado, Vice-President and Program Chair for SEM-SP, at semsouthernplains@gmail. Put your last name in the subject line of your e-mail submission. All e- mail submissions will be confirmed within 48 hours. Proposals should be in the format of a Microsoft Word (.doc/docx) document, .pdf document, or a Rich Text Format (.rtf). Each submission should include the following: 1. Title 2. Format (Paper, panel, poster session, roundtable discussion, film, workshop, etc.) 3. An abstract no longer than 250 words that includes a precise statement of the issue, analytic approach, conclusion, and implications for the field of ethnomusicology. 4.
