Another great day of racing for the team yesterday at Michigan - TopicsExpress

Another great day of racing for the team yesterday at Michigan State. The early races were halted, and then postponed due to a barn fire on the course, forcing a logistical reset by the organizers. As a result, all our teams were on the course together (in separate waves) after a late morning restart. The first finish of the day was the Womens B race, with Catherine Culkin and Sarah Seelye going 2-3 behind a Marian rider with whom they had broken away early in the race. All three riders worked well together to stay away, but the Marian rider had the stronger kick, and went hard from about 400 meters out. Thats the second time in two weeks that shes gotten us like that, but were working on a plan to bring home a victory next time. Next up was the Mens C/D finish, with Tyler Trask and Douglas Plowman going 3-4. They had a good lead out working into the final sprint, but just couldnt quite get there for top spot. Finally, we were very aggressive in the Mens B race, with Tim Panagis setting power PRs off the front in breakaway efforts, only to have those brought back, resulting in a bunch sprint. But no team can touch us there, as we again went 1-2 in this category, with Stephen Doll getting the victory off a strong lead out from Tyler Carlton who held on for second. The afternoon time trials demonstrated our dominance in this discipline (alliteration, FTW!), with our riders winning every event we entered: Stephen (I hate TTs almost as much as I hate dirt) Doll pulled off the daily-double, winning the Mens B; Sarah (I dont feel so good about this TT) Seeyle winning the Womens B; Fred Feng taking the Mens D (as a warmup to running a half-marathon this morning); and Tyler Trask not only winning the Mens C, but posting a time that put him up there with the Mens A field. Wow. Also on the ITT podium were Cat Culkin, taking 3rd, four seconds behind that pesky Marian rider, and Ben Rothacker taking third in his 2nd bike race ever; the first being the road race earlier that day. A great job by all! Go Blue!!
