Another great night at Dance Club . . . Check out our Facebook page (Dance Club Cuenca) for new pics and a video . . . we only need two more Likes to reach 100 – someone out there, please Like us so that we can reach that benchmark. While we’re on the subject, would someone please visit the Café Eucalyptus TripAdvisor web page, write a review, and tell the world how much fun it is to attend Dance Club at Café Eucalyptus on Thursday nights? Thanks. What I like best about Dance Club is that it is just a great place to hang out with some very nice people all doing what they love doing – dancing! Last Thursday night’s Dance Lesson was splendid – an even mix of guys and gals so no gals had to wait for a partner through the rotations. Lots of “the healthy anxiety of learning” – what is this guy trying to teach me and can I do it? Lot’s of the excitement of dancing with many different dance partners and getting used to the quirks and foibles of making it happen with a wide variety of partners. Lots of fun sociability. (And often a hint of romance is in the air). We had to compete with a free movie in Sucre and a free youth symphony concert and yet our numbers were still strong and our participation enthusiastic. The food at Café Eucalyptus keeps getting better and better, too. I had some curried chicken which was delicious and my usual tonic of ginger tea. Please remember to tip the staff at Eucalyptus – they work hard for their money. And if you happen to meet Chris at one of our Dance Club nights, be sure to thank him for Café Eucalyptus’ sponsorship of Dance Club. Super couple Elliott and Stephanie did a great job of teaching us the pretzel. We’ll split the lesson again next week between David and Elliott and Stephanie. David will teach “The Tunnel” – more twists and turns than a barrel of monkeys. Elliott and Stephanie will have something sweet and special as well. Here’s a link to The Tunnel for a preview of this exciting Swing wrap. Wrap, wrap, wrap – that’s what makes Swing so much fun. https://youtube/watch?v=APi_zBeef74 Please do your best to recruit more men to join our Dance Lessons – we always want to have enough men to go around for the ladies and what man in his right mind wouldn’t want the opportunity to meet so many nice ladies all at one time and in such a fun setting? Let’s too, please make an effort to recruit more Cuencanos y Cuencanas to participate in our Dance Lessons and Dance Parties. Everyone learns so much more when we embrace cultural exchange. If you attended the Semana Internacional United States celebration in Plaza San Sebastian last Saturday you know what I’m talking about – one of the best fiestas of the year. It’s official. Dance Mob training will start Tuesday, October 7, 4 pm in the upstairs instruction room at Café Ecualyptus. The cost of the training will be the same as Dance Club. $5 per lesson if you pay for the month in advance, $10 if you only want a single lesson. Well behaved children who are accompanied and supervised by their parents who are also enrolled students will pay only $2.50 per lesson when paid for the month in advance or $5 for a single lesson. We will “crash” a very nice public event for our first Cuenca Dance Mob performance (don’t worry, we have permission to “crash” but it will be a big surprise for those who will be in attendance) on Saturday, November 8 sometime between 11 am and 2 pm. There will be food and refreshments for sale at this event and lots of fun activities and nice people to meet. We’ve already hinted that the location is close to a very pretty pink house. Here’s another hint. It will be close to a river. Be sure to send in your email address if you want to be included on the Cuenca Dance Mob mailing list. And start getting your game face on now for our November Dance Club dance lessons where we will be teaching Christmas song and dance routines (don’t worry – you can do them!) to prepare for a public performance in December – it will be our way of giving back to the Cuenca community and giving the residents of beautiful Cuenca an idea of what Christmas looks like “state-side.” Children will be invited to participate subject to the same guidelines as stated above for Cuenca Dance Mob. Until Thursday, think positive, eat healthy, avoid second-hand smoke, bus fumes, and other things that will injure your body, practice your dance moves, and do something nice for someone! Random acts of dance kindness are always a nice thing to do. Your s truly, David Naccari, aka “Disco Dave” Dance Club Founder and Chief Instructor
