Another interesting move by insurance companies. They are now blocking most compounded pain creams. They would rather have you on narcotics because they are so cheap. You know who needs these pain creams: mothers who dont want to be impaired while taking care of their kids, and people who work outside the home who need to be able to drive and also not be in so much pain that they cannot perform at work. So heres the impact of this: people eventually cant work, go on food stamps and/or disability, AND get hooked on narcotics. How good is this for our nation? Ultimately, the tax-payers end up paying for this, while the insurance companies continue to find ways to make more and MORE money. I am more than a little frustrated here. My pain clinic is trying to get me in good enough shape to function again by trying all sorts of alternatives, and the insurance companies end up blocking these efforts. If my doctor says I need it, then the insurance needs to pay for it - plain and simple. Its bad enough that they wont pay for therapies that work like acupuncture, deep tissue massage, and such.
