Another interesting speaker has been added to the Mid Atlantic Reiki Conference that will be held on November 16th in Maryland! We are happy to announce Sheryl Ferranti Hamza as as another confirmed speaker on the Healthcare Collaboration panel. Welcome Sheryl. Sheryl Hamza, PhD, RRT-NPS is new to Reiki healing practice. A friend invited her to attend a level one Reiki class about a year ago and since then she has been a staunch advocate of Reiki healing. Studying traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki she has obtained the Master Practitioner/ART level of training. Sheryl has 30+ years of healthcare experience. Prior to discovering Reiki practice she worked in a conventional healthcare as a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner and NeoNatal/Pediatric Specialist, a community Respiratory Educator, Respiratory Therapy Clinical Educator, Chronic Pain Clinical Research Coordinator, a foster parent for Albemarle County, Virginia, and co-owns a chronic pain management consulting business with her physician husband. While working as a Respiratory Therapist she had the opportunity to study with a nurse who was also a Cherokee Medicine Woman. Through her, Sheryl studied many alternative/holistic methods of care and incorporated them into her life and education. After raising four children, and one foster child, she returned to school and obtained a PhD in Holistic Nutrition. She has also studied 3 years of western medical education in the M.D. program at Windsor University School of Medicine. Reiki practice has become an important tool for Sheryl and she incorporates it into her daily life. She speaks openly about its benefits to family, friends, and colleagues. Despite the reluctance of many physicians to incorporate “Natural/Holistic” practices into western healthcare, Sheryl realizes the benefits Reiki practice can have in patients suffering from many chronic ailments/diseases. She promotes it openly to physicians and staff and hopes that one day Reiki healing practice will be a routine order in a physician’s healthcare plan.
