Another jewel from Tara Bergeron So, once again, I just read a 20-something persons statement that they were born at the wrong time. The stated (as they often do) that they most relate to the 1960-70s. Well, little hipster, hippie wannabe, let me make a few things clear. You are likely NOT a flower child. Just because you like a couple of Beatles or Dylan songs that doesnt make you a 60s child. As a matter of fact, let me tell you some things that disqualify you. 1) If the only protest that youve ever been to is a pot rally on campus, you are NOT a 60s child. 2) If youve never heard of Barry Goldwater or Abbie Hofffman, you are NOT a 60s child. 3) If you liked Ron Paul last year because he is against war and pro pot but have no further understanding of what a Libertarian means, you are NOT a 60s child. 4) If you own a tie-dye shirt that you bought at Old Navy because its cute and makes you look like a 60s child, you are NOT a 60s child. 5) If someone mentions Kent State and you have to quickly hit up Wikipedia for an explanation, you are NOT a 60s child. 6) If someone says Bob Marley and you immediately think WEED, you are SOOO Not a 60s child. Statistically, most of you 20-25 year olds didnt vote in the last election and even fewer will vote in the mid-terms. The Children of the 60s and 70s were nothing if not INVOLVED. So quit piggybacking on the Time Magazine photos of what was likely the generation of you grandmas and do something with the generation in which you live. Then one day, your grandchildren might aspire to be aughts childredn. In the meantime stop stretching giant holes in your earlobes because we true children of the 60s, 70s and 80s think that is nasty and we are the ones from whom you are trying to get jobs.
