Another little automotive tidbit that I thought I would put out - TopicsExpress

Another little automotive tidbit that I thought I would put out there and that has already been proven. When I was about 10 years old, I was really interested in the science of the states of matter. You know. Gas, Liquid, Solid, Plasma and so on. Well I was also very interested in cars and had just almost given my grandmother a heart attack when I disassembled the engine in her 68 Impala SS. (I would note that I also put it back together in working condition so punishment was pretty light) So anyway, I came up with this fuel system that I drew out on a handful of standard lined paper. It was really simple. A gas carburetor system that ran the fuel through the cooling system by way of a simple heat exchange. AKA the fuel line was routed through the fins of the radiator where it would turn the gasoline to gas before piping it to a pressurized tank and then into a low pressure valve which fed into the intake. Simple. It is in essence like an LPG automotive system. Nothing out of the ordinary. AMC had been using LPG for years for a few models of their cars. So what is the difference? 100+ MPG is the difference. Since the fuel is not being fed into the system as a vapor or spray, the combustion is more consistent throughout and burns almost completely. No droplets of liquid fuel. The fuel is fed into the system in the best way possible. This being used with a swirl chamber on the top of the pistons gives almost perfect mixture and combustion. A few years later I gave up on the idea because I figured, I was only a kid. What did I know that 6 figure salary engineers didnt. Nothing really, but what I didnt take into account was the greed of the oil industry and their ability to kill off good ideas and engineers. The idea was already thought of in the late 1950s with the same result as I predicted. 100+ MPG in vehicles that were immensely heavy beasts like a 1956 Bel Aire. It did work and did so, so well that the industry shut the idea down so fast it made the brain hurt. So, when you see those occasional ideas out there occasionally that seem too good to be true, dont look away. Give them the time and respect that they deserve. Sometimes they are the most brilliant ideas out there. Oh, also, if you come up with a great idea. Dont sell yourself short, test it, prove it and patent it. I still beat myself up about the many ideas that I never put out there that I could have made bank off of.
