Another mad week here and I will post an update later today. Just wanted to let you all know how the baby Barn Owls are getting along. The rate of growth is immense and we have had to separate the three oldest ones from the other 4 in case of accidents. They are eating us out of house and home at the moment, between them the 7 of them are consuming roughly 35 to 40 mice a day. As soon as they are big enough to pull food apart for themselves, they will go into an aviary and learn to be self sufficient. We also took in a Barn Owl from Mayo last week, it had fallen from a nest which couldn’t be found and was being well taken care of by Noelene of Mayo Animal Welfare. After a few days socialising with Emur and Finbar, Merlin was introduced to a pair of wild disabled Barn Owls, who have 2 youngsters a little bit younger than Merlin and we are thrilled that they have taken to him and are rearing him with their own.
