Another meeting will be held Thursday 8/14 at HAAS school in Pahoa at 4pm FULL VIDEO: Puna Pono Alliance meeting from yesterday to discuss the #geothermal incident at #PGV during #Iselle. The plant shut down when lines went down and released hydrogen sulfide for an hour into the surrounding neighborhoods. Many people did not hear the message from Civil Defense about the danger from the H2S in the area and most could not evacuate anyway due to there being a hurricane happening. This meeting focused on drafting a letter to elected reps and comparing stories about what happened during the release. Many people smelled the gas and felt effects from being exposed, even during the high winds of a tropical storm. Several people reported losing consciousness completely, leaving them incapacitated and vulnerable during a very dangerous situation.
