Another modern parable . Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Once there was a careful man, a very careful construction worker. His job was to work the steel on the tall skyscrapers. His fears were well placed. One lapse in concentration,and it would be his last. He was assigned to a night job. He had to go to work when the sun went down and finished when dawn came. The night work was double tough, and double dangerous. After a few weeks, he got comfortable, too comfortable. Unknowingly, he became complacent, which led to recklessness. One night he was riveting an I beam quick as he could, one after another. It was the finishing touches for this area. The faster he finished, the sooner he could get home. He stepped back to take one final look and.....Off the ledge he went. He snatched the ledge just as he fell. The dark void beckoned below. He screamed out,as loud as possible for help. No one came. He gripped for all he was worth. Arms failing, muscles screaming he called out to God. Lord, Lord help me!! I cant hold out much longer. I have too much to do, a wife, kids. Lord Im slipping ....... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Into the black abyss he fell!! All of 4 inches!... to the scaffold below. So often we as followers believe we know better than God. We believe we know how Hes to meet our needs. We want Him to move in the way we see fit, the path we have determined for Him to meet our needs. We dont mean to but, we close our minds to any other avenue of blessing. I myself have prayed for financial help, checking the mail each day yet there was no assistance there, all the while I was saying no to overtime calls from work. We must keep our eyes and ears open to all the avenues. The Spirit of Christ chooses to bless, instruct or guide us. Discerning His will is something that comes with practice. With time, we can learn the voice of the Spirit as surly as a Mother can pick out her own childs voice from a crowd. Have you ever tried to place the Spirit in Hand cuffs? Jeremiah 33:3 says Call to me and I will show you great and mighty things you do not ask. Have you called Him today? Why not? Lets Pray : Dear Father, many times we try to fix or logically answer our own prayers. Please help us to come to You and then to wait for You. For there is nothing good about our plans unless they are powered by You. May we always take our direction from You. Please give us those nudges to convict us when we stray or become head strong in a way that is not Your way. We do not want to lose sight of the goal that You have placed before us. Life is too short to learn lessons over and over again. Please help us to step up and dust off after each lesson we learn in order to propel us forward in the one true path to You. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
