Another money making CASHCOW from the desk of Iain Duncan Smith? It does start to make you wonder why some of these informed policy makers feel it necessary to portray fathers as all being delinquent dead-beats. Is it because they themselves were/are not particularly good at marriage and fatherhood, or, perhaps more likely, the gravy train has milked as much as it can out of the Family Law arena and, in the aftermath of legal aid cuts, the industry needs to find a way to swell the coffers? Bear in mind that IDS has been responsible for some of the most controversial policies and/or recommendations in recent times, including blanket benefit caps and raising the age of retirement to 68. He and his departments have also been caught out widely misusing statistics to support their erroneous claims, notably by the head of the UK Statistics Authority in July 2013 for breaching the Code of Practice for Official Statistics, then again in August 2013 by The Trussell Trust. For those who arent aware, IDS is a millionaire, living in a beautiful country house on the estate of Baron Cottesloe... his father-in-law! IDS is the chap who also once claimed that he could easily live off £53 a week but declined to prove it, even after a 300,000 signature petition was presented. IDS is clearly in touch with the populous, or the proletariat, as we may be more commonly known in Westminster!
