Another moth vs. bat research project is underway at Yanayacu. Pamela Rivera and Andrea Roeser are making high-speed videos and audio recordings of captive moth responses to bat signals, sounds in lower frequency range of insectivorous bats. They have used ingenious suspension mechanisms to be able to record flying moths response to the auditory stimuli. I received a free audiology test by using my laptop in the same room. I can hear 11,000 cycles but not 12,000. Too much unprotected use of power saws, planers, and other carpentry equipment no doubt. I suppose it would be worse if I didnt use ear protectors with my chain saw. Nick Dowdy
