Another of my favorite Christmas hymns. This version, - TopicsExpress

Another of my favorite Christmas hymns. This version, unfortunately, does not take you through the entire song (which is the power of the hymn), but does have a narration by Ed Herrman (the father in Gilmore Girls, I believe) that gives the background of the writing of the hymn. Its a nice narration to listen to. The power of the song (besides its wonderful lyrical beauty) is in the recognition that ...there is o peace on earth, I said, for hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth good will to men. And then the reminder of the promise of eternity in Christ. Though Nietzsche argues that the weakness of Christianity is its reliance on a future world; but Paul Tillich gets it right when he argues for The Eternal Now. As we are told in the naming of Jesus, his name means, in part, God with Us. Not just a future hope, but a present reality. A beautiful hymn/carol. https://youtube/watch?v=sXfzp296zhA
