Another officer-involved shooting in Draper. I understand the guy - TopicsExpress

Another officer-involved shooting in Draper. I understand the guy pulled a knife on the officer. It reminds me of the scene in The Fugitive (and now Taken 3), when Harrison Ford says, I didnt kill me wife! And Tommy Lee Jones replies, I dont care! The Police are not a Judge. They are not a Jury. They arent a lawyer. They are there to enact a warrant that others have issued based on evidence of guilt; they are there because there is a suspicion of guilt, a threat of injury/violence. They are part of a system. Choosing to rail against that system, or cops as a whole, in a tense situation is neither the time nor place. The officer could very well say, I dont care! Their job is to act inside their training. I not saying this is done perfectly by perfect cops. I AM saying that even imperfect cops are 100% less likely to shoot you if you wait to argue until the right moment, in front of the people whose job it IS to judge you. The cop doesnt care - they DO care about our welfare, our peace, their training. They are not paid to decide guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt. If they think it might be, THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO ACT. If we would accept their right to act, maybe we could stop this terrible trend.
