Another one of West Virginias Favorite Sons Little Jimmy Dickens - TopicsExpress

Another one of West Virginias Favorite Sons Little Jimmy Dickens passed at age 94. T.Texas Tyler was one of Jimmy Dickens Heros. The Linville Sisters, my mother, Dollie Linville Hill and her sister Ruth Linville sang on The Old Farm Hour with Litttle Jimmy Dickens and T.Texas Tyler. When Mothers Sister Ruth was struck and killed by a drunk driver. T.Texas Tyler wrote a song about Ruth mothers sister. The Buried Her Beneith The Willows T.Texas Tyler, as mom related to me, really loved Ruths talent to sing and play the Mandiline. Mother and Ruth sang, also, on the program with Grand Paw Jones. Had Ruth not died in that horrible accident, they would have probably been on The Grand Ole Opry. The night before Ruth was killed, they were attending a Revival in their home communityi, at The Woodville Elementary School. She, Ruth and a bunch of their friends were going to the Altar, when the invatation was given, when one of her friends said, Dollie lets dont get saved tonight, lets go to Madison and go dancing. They all turned and walked out and the very next night in sight of The Woodville School, where the Revival was going on, her sister was struck and killed. Guy Gillenwater came along and took the back seat of his car, to place mothers sister Ruth on. As mother knelt over her dying sisters body, mother cried out to Jesus and her heart to Jesus. Mother, always wondered if her sister had time to repent and felt she was responsible for her sister not going to the Altar the night before. That was the end of Mother and Ruth, The Linville Sisters Singing. We Salute The Memory of lil Jimmy Dickens. RIP
