Another piece of the puzzle has been added to the AHL Pacific - TopicsExpress

Another piece of the puzzle has been added to the AHL Pacific division as the Norfolk Admrials will soon be sold to their parent club the Anaheim Ducks. After last months news of OKC Barons cease operations at the end of this season and now the Admrials being bought it looks like we have two teams that the NHL clubs are ready to bring out west. Two things could be a major problem into taking the other three teams and shipping off. First since this will affect every team in the AHL im sure most owners will put up a stink and will vote against it. Second is the cities that still have leases will sue if they are just out right broken and teams leave them in the middle of the night. But since everyone is sneaky here is how i will see it play out. The owners/AHL will meet, LA SJ Anaheim Calagry Arizona and Edmonton will try and persuade the rest into forming a true west division but it fails. So they say Ok well since most of these teams leases are up in two-three years the Oilers and Ducks will share prospects in Norfolk. Now this is key since apparently the Oilers want to work a deal to bring ECHL hockey to Norfolk and want Young to lead it. So the league agrees. Now these teams deny talks with cities on expanding contracts and let the lease play out. Now you have Manchester,Worcester,Norfolk,Portland, and Adriondrack without leases. Now the NHL clubs will walk into the meeting and say you know what we either get our division like we want or we leave the league and send all over our prospects to the ECHL. The AHL will have to give in OR let 5 teams walk away.
