Another question for those of us Grand Bahama Island: the Bahamian government is interested in revitalizing the agricultural industry throughout the country. This is a very wise move -- because, imho, future wars will be about food -- and about water. The Bahamas needs to be able to produce food for its people and not depend on importation. Economically, this is a step forward because the money will stay within the country instead of flowing out to support agriculture elsewhere. I met a lady who had just been assigned 5 acres of Crown Land to use as a farm. A five acre plot will take a fair amount of capital investment to make it ready to produce, not to mention the need to fence it in so that the produce is not stolen. Why does the government not start a farm equipment cooperative -- where they would supply equipment for small plot farmers to share ( and to pay based on usage). The government not only needs to give Crown Land, but the must give a helping hand to these small farms. Can we open a discussion on this and hope that it reaches the right ears in the Dept. of Agriculture?
