Another randomly scheduled s.i. related topic: telling strangers why, and giving an honest answer. First, why would you want to? Maybe youre tired of hiding, of excuses. Maybe the person seems genuinely interested. Ive seen the latter break down into the following categories: people who are way too interested. Junkies, they get off on pain. I dont tell them shit. Then people who dont care, but feel like they should. I tell them An alternative method of expression for pain. They nod, and move on. People who dont care, but are being assholes or making fun/light of s.i. Same, An alternative method of expression fod pain. And the last 2 categories. Theres a fine distinction here, and its confusing. People who say they really do care, and really do want to know. They take the time to talk to you, and show genuine interest. Butwhen you give them a real and well thought out answer, they stop listening and walk away. Final category, wants to know, does care, will listen. Friends, how have you found luck in distinguishing these categories?
