Another reason why we need the NYS state wide animal abuse registry bill passed- Bronx man pleads guilty in domestic violence, animal cruelty case Posted: Aug 20, 2014 4:37 PM EDT Mentor Demiraj (Albany Co. DAs Office) ALBANY, N.Y. – A Bronx man pleaded guilty Wednesday in an animal cruelty, domestic violence case. Mentor Demiraj, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree and one count of Animal Cruelty. According to Albany County District Attorney David Soares, Demiraj repeatedly violated a stay away order of protection between December 1, 2012 and November 1, 2013 by committing acts that caused reasonable fear for the protected party. Soares said one of the acts included an incident that occurred in an Albany County residence on June 13, 2013 when Demiraj intentionally killed the victims companion animal, a two-and-a-half year-old German Shepard. The plea also satisfies a charge where Demiraj intentionally killed another companion animal belonging to the victim, an eight-week-old German Shepard puppy, on August 13, 2013, according to Soares. Demiraj faces one to three years in State Prison when sentenced on September 17. news10/story/26329885/bronx-man-pleads-guilty-in-domestic-violence-animal-cruelty-case
