Another scam on LPG subsidy? Any new scheme is highly suspicious. The Centre’s recent decision to pay gas customers directly in their bank account has proved a hassle for many and they complain not having received the promised subsidy for months. Hyderabad: Even though the consumers have linked their Adhar number after suffering much hassles, most of the city LPG consumers are not getting the subsidy amount in their account, giving rise to suspicion that the government has hoisted on them another scam. The direct benefit transfer of LPG scheme is implemented in five districts— Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Anantapur, Chittoor and East Godavari from June 2013. Adhar linkage had given a lot of troubles to the common public who had to give up a day’s job and undergo all the discomfort of waiting in the queue and filling up a dozen forms. Even after that some would receive and many would not. After all this trouble, now the Supreme Court has declared Aadhar non-essential. Now the situation is that nobody is responsible to pay the subsidy to the customers. Gas company says it is no longer the authority. Banks plead until they receive the amount from the district authorities what could they do? b on the other hand is supposed to pay full amount in advance, `1024.50 and wait for the subsidy. Now the situation is that gas agencies are free to indulge in black marketing of cylinder. “Any scheme this Congress government brings give rise to scandal,” lamented a bank official who is harassed for nothing by his account holders asking where is the money? Ajit, a gas agency owner from Kulsumpura said he has more than 300 customers in the area, but since one month the supply boys are taking back three to four cylinders daily without delivery, as the customers are unable to pay the amount fixed by the oil companies, refusing to take cylinders, due to which we are returning the cylinders to the gas company. Complaints galore Murtuza Ali, aged 55, from Kulsumpura, who has a mobile recharge shop, told Postnoon, “I am unable to afford gas anymore. This recharge shop is my only source of income. I get Rs.6,000 to Rs.7,000 a month. We are five members in family. How could I pay the amount gas company is asking for? I did not receive the subsidy amount yet, I booked my cylinder on September 4 and it was delivered on September 16 but even after that, I have not received any subsidy amount though I have provided my Aadhaar number,” G Chandrasekhar, a resident of Vasantha Nagar Colony , Kukatpally, said. The consumers who have provided their Aadhar number to both, the bank and the gas agency, will get the subsidy amount in their bank accounts after they purchased the cylinder at market price, the government announced. Not more than 50 per cent consumers linked their Adhar in city, but seven out of 10 people who have linked their Aadhar card with their bank accounts and gas agencies, saying that even after the confirmation message of Adhar link the government is failed to provide the subsidy amount in our account. District supply officer Vijay Rao said, “The agencies and the banks have bunches of Adahr Xerox to linkup with users accounts. The procedure is still continuing. People are yet busy in connecting their Aadhar with banks, it will take some time to become the situation normal. Chief Rationing Officer Dr Padma told to postnoon that nothing is in our hands, Government put all it efforts to help the customer, provided Aadhaar kits to the gas agencies, people who ensured the Adhar with banks getting the subsidy, though it is taking some time to credited. More she added that, oil companies will cross check after cylinder delivered to the customers whether their Aadhaar linkage has been properly done with the gas agencies and bank accounts, then they issue the subsidy amount for all this it will take minimum of five to 20 days.
