Another ship has been hijacked in Asia, the 10th this year. Six armed pirates stole oil cargo using two tankers. They also took the crews belongings and damaged communications and navigation equipment before escaping. The vessel was the Thailand-registered product tanker, V L 14. No crew injuries reported as they made temporary repairs to enable them to sail towards shore. Meanwhile, in the Gulf of Guinea, a tanker was attacked by pirates in a skiff launched from a barge. Following a 50-minute gunfight with navy security personnel on the vessel, two pirates were able to board. The crew remained safe. The pirate disembarked. Later a Nigerian naval patrol boat escorted the vessel to a safe anchorage.
