Another short AGE story: It had rained steadily at Hamilton AFB for a few days, equipment was soaked, but the mission went on, flying intercepts of the T-33s and other F-106s. My three man loading crew, uncurled the input power cable for a ECU-10 and plugged it into the receptacles in the ground & prepared to mate up the large aircraft power connector on the left side of the aircraft. I started to power up the unit, by pushing in the Run or Start Button, and the input power connector for the ECU-10 blew out of the ground power connections with a Bang. Seems water had pooled down inside the connector, and flashed to steam, when the input power was switched on, blowing the heavy input connector and cable, several feet in the air. After having the base electricians check for possible damage(none was found), we pressed on with the activities.
