Another song from this Christmas/New Years season of the year. We use a candle for a Christmas tree, Although I dd put some clothes on to go to work on New Years Eve. This song lives a little on the edge. But, its completely authentic, pure, honest... Kodachrome. Not being thought about, just being lived. This particular song I wrote back in 2003 to encapsulate a wonderful experience of life and many really great memories. Some of our most memorable memories and experiences come from the most unexpected places totally out of the blue. This recording reflects what Ive said many times. In how at the moment you write a song. Is the best time to record it. Because, its still basking in its own place of the moment of being felt. Which, in my opinion, is your best chance of truly capturing in music, what you were feeling when you wrote the words. :) Record it three months, a year later? That particular magic of the moment is gone, dried up, hard to reconnect to. To really capture the true authentic nature of the thought, song. This girl called me every year on my birthday and sang, Happy Birthday to me. For what must have been ten years. Pretty awesome when two people can share something special in time. Then each moving forward feeling nothing but the greatest of appreciation for what they knew and shared and how they still view each other. As they walk into their different directions of life, with a warm heart and a smile. Each carrying the bond of having shared something incredibly special.
