Another student growth and we show them not be blind to human compassion. I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to step off my boat. I truly believe my purpose in life was solidified when I spent those several days in Peru. I have never been so appreciative of life and more determined to become a physician so that I too can work with programs such as this one. I have completely changed the way I view and others. I learned a lot about myself. I learned that I am scared to stepped into the unknown and I do not whole heartedly believe in myself. It is something I will continue to work on in order for me to become a great physician. I hope you continue to be my mentor. Everyone needs to the tough love and academics that you provide. I do not speak of the textbook learning, I mean the hands on learning and the long ethical discussions that took place. This is what truly makes someone understand life and compassion. I learned that being a physician is not about what you learn in text books. one of the doctors there told me medicine is not 2+2 = 4. Being a physician is a philosophy in itself that needs to be learned. Although I have returned home, back to the sad reality of ungrateful people, and people who will not support the dreams of a black woman, I vow to give my dream all my time and dedication. I was made to become a physician, an OB/GYN at that. Thank you and see you soon, Pascale Lafortune York College New York City
