Another success truth: Stop trying to be perfect! Sounds - TopicsExpress

Another success truth: Stop trying to be perfect! Sounds contradicting to the common wisdom, I know. But thats why the common wisdom produces common results, instead of extraordinary results. So lets destroy another success myth and reveal the real success principle: Perfectionism is a disease. Its a limitation. Its often times used as an excuse for not progressing or getting results. I used to be a perfectionist. I wanted things to be perfect before I show it to others. I wanted things to be perfect before launching. I wanted things to be perfect... for the sake of. Then a mentor showed me that while I was busy trying to achieve perfection (on minute details that often people dont even know or care about), others were speeding past me and leaving me behind. Because of my obsession for perfection I often got into paralysis of analysis... over-thinking, over-analysising every single darn thing... even those that has inconsequential impact. Dont miss understand, STRIVING for perfection is not bad. Its great! Striving for perfection will challenge our standards and bring out the best in ourselves. Striving for perfection often times will create new breakthroughs and innovation. But often times we let the idea of trying to achieve perfection become the limitation... preventing us from moving forward and actually progressing. Thats when too much of a good thing turns bad... So instead of going for perfection, aim for dramatic progress, for evolution, for continuous and massive growth. When I realised that I started to change my behaviours and prioritise progression rather than perfection. And my results started to change dramatically. I mean DRAMATICALLY. However, be prepared that there will be people who might criticise (some for the sake of criticising) or even make fun. Dont get distracted and stay the course. Eg. Recently I received a couple of the most inane comments on my Page. Ignored it. Focused on the task at hand... focused on progress. Dont let perfection becomes your limitation. 1) Aim high and dream big (stretch goal) 2) Put a timeline and create a schedule (so you dont get caught in paralysis) 3) Go for it with everything youve got 4) Focus on forward movement (progression), Fail Forward Fast (FFF) 5) Focus on improvements Success is NOT about being perfect. Success is about a constant state of improvement.
