Another successful trip to Finals in the books. A huge congratulations to Kevin Smith on his induction into the DCI Hall of Fame. I cant think of anyone who better embodies the Crown Spirit. I am immeasurably grateful to call him a friend and mentor. As long as guys like Kevin are involved, the activity is in good hands. My team didnt do as well as I had hoped, but as far as Im concerned, Carolina Crown had the coolest show Ive ever seen (and, in my humble opinion, the Jim Ott went to the wrong hornline this year). What a great year for drum corps! Blue Devils high score, Bluecoats silver medal, the list just goes on. Im also immensely thankful for my time at Crown, forming friendships that will last a lifetime. Not only did I get to spend some time with my Crown family, but also with my adopted Star family. You guys took me in as one of your own (a baby star) in 2010, and the close-knittedness (is that even a word?) of that group continues to impress me. Among a million other things to thank him for, Id like to thank Matt Harloff for giving me that opportunity in 2010. A big thanks to Jon Goldman and the rest of the staff at Yamaha for hooking me up with a horn on such short notice for an impromptu National Anthem performance. To all those that I didnt get an opportunity to see or spend time with this year, I will most definitely be there next year! Safe travels to everyone heading home today. Next stop: New Bern, then headed south to Hattiesburg on Tuesday. Time to start the next big thing! PS - Im sure Ive forgotten someone/something, so I apologize for that!
