Another thing I dont get... Why do people feel they have to lie - TopicsExpress

Another thing I dont get... Why do people feel they have to lie about the folks that they see as their enemy?? For example, there is a video that has gone viral, showing a swarthy Syrian man with his arm around a weeping little girl who looks European. The caption says ISIS militant announces his marriage to terrified 7-year old in occupied city in Syria This particular video has nothing to do with marriage, but was a Koran recitation competition, featuring the little girl who was Syrian. It has been proven as such by several people, including myself. And yet it is still being circulated as a true story. Here is another example of lies about Muslims and Islam: a while ago a former facebook friend had added a photo of a mob of enraged men in Middle-Eastern garb. The caption said something to this effect: What has Islam contributed to the world? NOT ONE GOOD THING. I commented on the status, asking if this person had ever heard of a place called the Taj Mahal. Instead of answering my question, this friend (who had seemed nice up until that point, though not necessarily intelligent) along with her cohorts called me a bleeding heart for simply pointing out one great example of Islams contributions to world culture. I could have named many more things, but really whats the point eh? Its not just conservative fear-mongers who continue to repeat lies to serve their own agendas, many liberal and far left folks do the same. One example is how the story of the Irish orphanage home for unwed mothers was later found to be very much embellished. I have run across numerous other lies and twisted truths while trying to sort out the truth online. What I really have trouble understanding is this: Why the f**k do people think they need to lie about their enemies when they can find plenty of real life stories that prove their nemesiss wickedness? There are plenty of real atrocities, so why go for lies??? It just makes your point of view harder to believe.
