Another thing the Indian Armed Forces does without much fuss and demur is this business of everybody receiving awards and eating together on occasions of celebration and the big bosses going walkabout with minimal fuss at such events. The unit citations were received by the Commanding Officer and the seniormost Non-Commissioned Officer, and after being given the awards, the NCO led the way off the podium with the CO following. During the post event brunch-tea, the Air Force Chief escorted the dignitaries into their tent, then Im told was busy into taking group photos with the award winners, after which he walked into the tent for senior officers, then junior officers and then the other tents. I just about got one photo that too not too clearly because this was done so seamlessly and without fuss or ado, but after walking into one tent, he shared pleasantries with some people, spent time with the helicopter display team, then picked up a plate, took a sample bite, and then went on to the next tent.
