Another thought on the NCAA Athlete Players Union... Sure, let them form one, but place an extreme emphasis on GPA and core required classes. Make the average requirement be 3.4/4.0. If you maintain a GPA above 3.4, you can keep the benefits you receive now. The lower your GPA, the lower your benefits. Only the top 2% of all student athletes will receive additional benefits (based on GPA). --- That seems like real-life. Each school will have to have a salary cap. --- Sport based, with a school maximum as well. (Its about equality.) If you drop below 2.8/4.0, you are not post-season eligible. Miss a class (without approved reason) miss a game/match. You can even add performance bonuses, for things such as completing your degree on time (or in advance), repetitive GPAs above a threshold, etc. --- Incentives based solely on educational performance. Require core classes for all student athletes, such as: Ethics, Personal Finances, English Literature and Yoga.
