Another (true) story: Hired on in 1960. After going through EIA & PAR, got promoted to Temporary Chief TransmissionMan in 1964 (nobody ever got promoted to Permanent, right off the bat). Anyway - after doing my mandatory six-months on Nights, I was made Permanent on April Fools Day and moved to the Day shift. They hired a kid right off the street, straight into management, to replace me. And get this - he had been the parking lot attendant next door to our complex. So - for many years the joke in OKLAD-03 was Knapp got replaced by a parking lot attendant. Too funny. :)
