Another type of listener is the moralist. The moralist tends to have a lot of you should when he listens. Or the one who tends to know all the answers. Still another is the parent who reassures that everything will be ok and minimizes the childs feelings. Parents and people do this thinking they are helping their children. Some even try to solve the problem for the child. What the child needs is not an answer or a brush-off, but someone to just listen without judging. We do not have to agree, we can just listen and accept their feelings. And isnt it true, sometimes just hearing ourselves say it out loud guides us to the solution? The same can work for children.
