Another victory in the fight against the use of rat poisons: the City of Novato, in Marin County, California was about to implement an IPM policy that would allow the use of NON-SGAR rodenticides (meaning non second generation poisons), so that first generation poisons would be allowed - but those are deadly as well. Thanks to quick action by a resident, and RATS volunteer, who wrote a comment to the city, the staff did their own research and removed the use of non-SGAR rodenticides from the recommendation. Instead they will use non-toxic exclusion methods to deal with any rodent problems on city properties. One small victory, one small town at a time - thats how progress is made!
