Another wild unsubstantiated falsehood peddled about the EPAs. That the Interim Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the EU and Ghana in 2007 yielded nothing for Ghana...here is the evidence!! The IEPA ensured that trade for Ghanas Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs ) was not disrupted and since 2007, our NTEs have averaged an annual $500m reaching estimated $3bn this 2013 ...I will send anyone the data set from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority if asked. When you juxtapose these figures against the shambolic argument over loss of tariff revenues of some $300m when the EPA s are fully signed and see how that thing crumbles. I have not mentioned the value chain addition to the economy, employment, taxes etc.....and then there is even the point that eludes superficial champions of economics, the translation of these tariff dislodgement to the spending power of customers who patronize EU imports.... Note that the $3bn figure will rise if we sign the EPAs as...and the last time I checked the EU contributes an annual $402m to your economy in direct budgetary support , something I dont agree with though...so numbers numbers numbers, numbers, not wild allegations and aspersions..
