Another year is coming to an end and us here at Straight Up Blues Productions are looking forward to 2015. We were involved with numberous shows throughout the year which kept us very busy. Straight Up Blues Productions has grown into a legitimate business. Taking part in sponsoring two festivals this year being The New Blues festival in Long Beach, Ca. As well as The Blues For The Zoo Festival. Held annually in Big Bear Village, Ca. I would like to thank the festival organizers for their involvement in the Blues community to bring quality entertainment to blues enthusisiasts. My Hat goes off to William Grisolia and Rick Bates and Nancy Meyer for jobs well done. We had a great time at both of these events and look forward to future involvement. Continued sucess to a venue I booked for the better part of six months. ODonovans Irish Pub is into their second year of being an establishment in Downtown Pomona. With much promise and meetings between myself and the owner a deal was struck and the booking began. Starting with bi-monthly shows a dee-jay weeknight and a sunday jam, I became really busy. With a lack of interest from the public and a venue not geared up for live music the owner and I felt it had run its course so the music stopped in Pomona. I had a great time working all angles to provide the bands and interaction with the pub owner, to bad it did not work out. Thank you Mark Drury for taking a chance. Another venue that I did a few shows in was Claremonts very own Hip Kitty, a very cool room that unfortunatly will be closing its doors at the end of January 2015. The room was sold, so cross your fingers maybe the new owners will rethink their decision to make this room just a resturant instead of one of the coolest live music rooms in Southen California, thank you to Steve Camara and Christian Morrish, for all the good times. A few private events and public parties also marked the calendar that we had the oppurtunity to take part in, we thank all of you who picked up the phone and hired us for our services. Straight Up Blues Productions also became involved in working with two International Bands this year. From Brazil THE HEADCUTTERS, and from Germany B.B. AND THE BLUESSHACKS. Both bands reached out and asked if I would help them out with bookings as well as other organization that was needed to make this transition as easy as possible. It was a great time working with both bands. Northern and Southern California Blues musicians, promoters, and club owners reached out for both tours, I booked four shows for The Headcutters. The band did 8 southern california dates the four other shows were booked by Jon Atkinson and Jerry Careaga, other people who helped this tour out where Jason James, Richard Hernandez, and Dana Duran. The Headcutters left SoCal for the windy city tour continue tour dates, they also toured in Mississippi the tour lasted 23 days. BB AND THE BLUES SHACKS, did a six day tour of California, I had a chance to join them for their tour and it was a BLAST! Starting on a tuesday the band played six consecutive dates, first stop Winchester, followed by San Fransisco, Santa Cruz, Claremont, San Pedro, and San Diego. A very special thank you for all the help, cooridination, and support is extended to Leslie Hagin, Aki Kumar, Kid Anderson, Greaseland Studios, Sammy Avila, Laura Chavez, Candye Kane and her fine band, Little A and the Allnighters, Ed Mann, Kurt Kalker, Rosa Lea Schiavone, David Mac and Blues Junction Productions, Dynamic Grafx, and anyone else I may have missed.
