Another young Black life snuffed out by a paid authority figure with a gun. Off duty, no less. Already his lifeless bodys on trial. Whatever he might have become reduced now to a twisted reconstruction of his last moments, false pictures of him built from his digital footprint, a dramatized version of him gestating in the womb of the 24 hr news cycle. Look. I dont know exactly what happened yet. You dont know exactly what happened yet. What I know and I hope you do too is that whatever happened this particular time doesnt change the fact that yet another young Black man has been fatally shot by a policeman with a gun in the streets of St Louis. The stats dont lie. This is a problem. Anyone who would seek to use the particulars of a specific incident to diminish or dismiss this pandemic of a problem, a problem which has thousands of other iterations in recent history that DONT receive national coverage, needs to look themselves in the mirror and think really hard about their incredibly skewed perception of reality, and maybe their bigotry too. Someone is dead, and someone is not. Again. Thats never right. It takes on an even greater significance as part of a pattern. Rest in peace, Mr. Myers.
