Ansett Airlines of Australia operated a daily Flying Boat service - TopicsExpress

Ansett Airlines of Australia operated a daily Flying Boat service to Lord Howe Island from the Rose Bay Flying Boat Terminal, in Sydney Harbour, until 1974. The 2 in this photo, shown at Lord Howe Island, still survive. The Sunderland V in the background is now owned by Kermit Weekes and is at his Fantasy Of Flight museum in Florida. The Sandringham in the foreground is now in the Solent Museum at Southampton in the U.K. Some years ago a very informative doco, called The Ships That Flew, was made about both these boats and was released just prior to their retirement. (I am am lucky to have a copy) Although the full version is not on You Tube a trailer is: See: https://youtube/watch?v=x12RZg3LGek
