Answerer #6 edited 2 years ago God said an eye for an eye, but it was never, all He said. Jesus was not changing the law, he was correcting people as to its actual truth. The old testament says Vengeance is the Lords Leviticus 19:18 `You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but you shall love your neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord However you misunderstand also Turn the other cheek. It indeed also has a context. It is If your brother smites you( The text is talking about a believer that will listen to better conscience). It also only says to do it, once. Not then turn the other again, then bend over and expose the other two. You misunderstand quite grotesquely. I assure you, as a Christian, if you were to be enough a danger to me or the people I love, I would rather remove your head from your neck before I would let you do your intended harm to me, and perhaps even more especially for mention, them. It is just simply that I would prefer not to harm you if it can be avoided. Please, make no mistake, I would kill you if necessary to protect other Christians or my loved ones. It is likely I could even kill you if you forced my hand in circumstances I should even protect an unbeliever. The commandment my lord gave to turn the other cheek, has a context. This, please make certain you well understand. The commandment says to turn the other cheek, yourself. It does not necessarily say that if I see you lay a hand on my Christian brother that I should turn his other cheek to you. It does not even say to me not to remove the hand from your body you are swinging at him with. I might turn the other cheek accordingly as I am commanded, not only in the context of one scripture, but in the framework of all of them as and entirety, but hit me a second time and I might take my car keys out of my pocket and pluck both your eye balls out with them so that you will never again have the aim to swing at another person so long as you live. It would do be more reliable to you if you just did not smite other people. I would not have you to trust too much on the account I will not defend my own. It would be sad thing for you to misinterpret. Everything works in its greater role in over all relationship. Christian or not, you should give reverence to such. I should not hit you, you should not hit me. Its not complicated. After that you violate such things, however, the rules can become a little more blurry as to how you personally might be defining them. Added to by that having the bones in your nose punched into the back of your brain can have such effects on your perceptions. Of coarse, the first consideration concerning such things in relationship would be that if you dont want to be in a fight you can lose, dont go looking for a fight.
