Anthony Mouasso, since our conversation last evening about international markets, this might be interesting to read. In the reviews I saw initially from the India and Korea movie goers, they were pretty favorable, which did not surprise me much because even though we see racism pretty clearly in a Black/White sense in western nations, it is much more subtle in other parts of the world and sometimes it does not translate well when the only people one sees are nominally the same as you, this is true in Africa as well where the bad guys one sees are not White, but the underlying causes are coming from concepts (race and class union) developed and implemented from Europeans, i.e. Rwanda genocide. None of those reviews I saw even mentioned whitewashing, this from an article that sort of gives a perspective of those movie goers: South Koreans seem to like it. The movie made around $10 million there. It’s big across Asia and in Latino markets. Maybe some of them will also realize how terrible it is by the second or third weekend. Or maybe not. If you noticed movies getting worse and worse recently, it’s because they’re being made for foreign audiences. Dialogue is cut because it doesn’t translate well. Special effects and action scenes are boosted. Random settings are programmed in to disposable movies. Today it’s a section of the Bible. Tomorrow it’s giant fighting robots. You might notice, but audiences in South Korea will treat the whole thing as an exotic import in which stuff blows up the way American audiences saw Godzilla. #boycottexodusmovie #exodusmovie frontpagemag/2014/dgreenfield/the-only-people-who-like-exodus-gods-and-kings-are-in-south-korea/
