Antimatter is a type of matter that is composed of particles with the opposite charges of their standard counterparts. Where a regular electron has a negative charge, an anti-electron (positron) has a positive charge. Antimatter is considered an ideal fuel source because it annihilates when it comes in contact with regular matter, meaning it completely destroys the matter with no byproducts. This would make it an effective source of clean energy.
