Antique Vietnam porcelain shines at Singapore exhibit .... Exquisite items of Vietnamese porcelain have attracted considerable attention at an exhibit running until December 2014 in Singapore. “China Mania! The Global Passion for Porcelain, 800-1900,” which is running at the Asian Civilizations Museum until December 14, showcases 150 objects, including new acquisitions. A number of Vietnamese porcelain objects are prominently placed at the exhibit and have received compliments from curators and visitors alike. One of the highlights is a blue-white Vietnamese porcelain jar which dates back to the 15th century. According to the exhibit’s organizer, the method used to create the turquoise dye on the Vietnamese porcelain jars remains unknown. This sophisticated, mysterious dying technique was unique in Southeast Asia at the time.
