Any progressive nation must be DELIBERATE about how it raises the next generation, about how it plans its society, how it generates funds, and about how it leaves the next generation with more than enough to self-sustain. Mauritius has been overwhelming and amazing nation for me, giving me more reasons for positive reflection and in-depth analysis of what more we need to do to make our nation an amazing place. We have extreme wealth in Nigeria, the irony stares us in the face embarrassingly. Apart from being a very clean country, it is extremely organised. The transport system is amazing: buses arrive within 15-30mins of eachother; defacing public places is a taboo. I can go on and on. The election is about 10 days away and you can barely see any notice to that effect here. The citizens are warm, friendly but they are very conservative. The streets are deserted by 8pm at the most (forgive me I live in Nigeria). Tourism is Mauritius No. 1 source of revenue (as reiterated by many government officials and residents here). Nigeria, like many African countries, has tourist spots aplenty. You begin to query what have we done with what we have?. Thousands of tourists pay a lot to visit the pictured places below amongst others. The opportunity for Africa is unbelievable, and we have no reason to be at the begging end of the world; neither do our citizens deserve to be downtrodden, spited, looked down upon or Africa only seen through the poster images of poverty and other retrogressive situations the world over. The onus is upon the next generation of thinkers, of leaders, of Africans. Fixing our nation-states will not be easy, neither will it fall in our laps. We must think it, plan it, and resolve to make our nation live to her true potentials.
