Anybody else seen the Jersey Boys movie? It was surprisingly kind of mediocre. The acting of the Frankie Valli and Tommy DeVito characters was good, Christopher Walken was very good and much of the music excellent, but tonally it was all over the show: gritty, profane-heavy mobster movie / fourth-wall breaking comedic nostalgia piece. Somehow this balance worked perfectly onstage, but not so much on the big screen. Oddly enough when I saw the play I thought, wow that is so cinematic in every way it would make a brilliant movie.
