Anybody ever make it to the Broadway run of Prince of Central - TopicsExpress

Anybody ever make it to the Broadway run of Prince of Central Park? I did. I was there on a secret mission from Patrice Cooper. The show, you may remember, originated at Royal Palm Dinner Theatre then had a successful run in Miami Beach, starring Nanette Fabray and directed by Bob Bogdanoff. Patrice, who was a major theater lover and patron, handed me a check for $10,000 and said If its good, I will invest. I went to opening night with my sister Sheila. We enjoyed the show, starring Joanne Worley, and the opening night party even more, held at Tavern on the Green. Everyone was feeling good until someone ran in with a stack of New York Times. Frank Rich destroyed the show. It opened Nov. 9, 1989 and closed Nov. 11, 1989. I returned to Boca and gave back Patrices check. There was a later TV movie version starring Kathleen Turner. I never saw it.
