Anybody know any decent pub/venue gigs around the country that put on original bands as opposed to covers bands? Looking for suggestions that do not involve playing behind a beer glass protective cage with people demanding Jambolia! The attached Blues Brothers video actually reminds me of playing a bar I think was called the Locharber Bar in Caol just outside Fort William: many many years ago, except it did not have a cage and was just as wild where they demanded Jambolia. I was the bass player and a guy shouted at me right through the gig that he was going to kick my you know what in after the gig. He came up to me after it in the car park and I was about to smash my Bass over his head when he shook my hand and said how much he enjoyed the band. He was known locally as Mad Dog.
