Anybody who still believes that the west should have supported the Olympic Games in Russia needs to take a closer look at what Russia under Putin represents. Russia is now sending troops into the Ukraine. Putin seems intent on establishing once again the Soviet Union. What is next? The Czech Republic or Slovakia or Poland? Maybe even Finland, because it once was considered part of Russia if you go far enough back in history. Maybe he will try to put a wall up in Berlin again. Not only is he seeking once again to expand the borders of Russia, but the CBC in Canada just produced an undercover report of how people who are gay are literally hunted down and killed. What is next? If you happen to have a skin color that Putin doesnt like it is open season on you as well. For those who do not believe that countries should have a military force, this is precisely why you do, so you can defend your country against self-appointed dictators. I have never been an advocate of starting wars, but if you cannot defend yourself then you become victims of the playground bully and that is exactly what Putin is.
