Anyim, in unveiling the modalities for the conference had said: ”The national conference shall tentatively last for three months and shall discuss any material, except the indivisibility and indissolubility of Nigeria as a nation; thus the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable. How this translates to not having the permission of the president to discuss how we shall continue to exist as one, I dont know. If I am asked( and I know some of my friends here are already sayingeven if you arent), the president has given permission to all delegates to talk about keeping Nigeria one, what this translates to is, when and if you get to those topics that may or may not cause dissolution of nigeria, I am not saying dont discuss it, but do so in such a way that it will be solution oriented,that it will bring about a final end to such an issue, but whatever you do, do not further divide the nation, I will not allow it. This is what the president said. Now I have been listening to so many political analyst, social critic, and even activist, agitate against no go areas, and I wonder their Control of the English language. What baffles me more is that there are lawyers in that conference and non of them has bothered to disabuse the mindsof the others who do not seem to understand the exact import of these supposedly cristened No Go areas. Its either I do not have proper grasp of english, or they dont. Discuss all, even our unity, but do not arrive at disintegration. Discuss revenue generation and allocation, discuss rights and responsibility, discuss authority and jurisdictional ownership of mineral resource, discuss tenure, discuss religion,discuss gay marrige(even if its already law, discuss child marriage, for heavens sake discuss job creation, method of government and governance, discuss corruption and what should its punishment be. Discuss what we should do with past corrupt politicians, abeg discuss, discuss, discuss. Everything you can think of, but do not conclude to scatter the composition called Nigeria. How difficult is this. Why should this simple thing take them 2weeks, is it that their intention originally was to go and break Nigeria? Bakare, falana and others pls enlighten us. Finally someone should pls tell Adamawa state, that they are not going anywhere,they have 21untapped mineral resource in their state,afterall we all enjoyed south souths oil, so if they like make them stage WALKOUT or WALKAWAY from the confrence, we must chop inside their wealth. Afterall what is good for our goose, should be good for their gander.
