Anyone in the Frisco area, we got this from our school. Just in case you didnt. #frisco #friscoisd Dear Parents: We know many of you have been watching news reports today regarding a patient who presented at a local clinic exhibiting flu-like symptoms and reporting possible exposure to the Ebola virus. Based on screening criteria used at the clinic and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Frisco clinic patient was transported to a Dallas hospital out of an abundance of caution. The patient is not a Frisco resident but lives in The Colony. He does not have children who attend Frisco ISD schools. The patient reported that he did not have direct contact with the patient in Dallas, but did enter the apartment where the man had stayed and did have contact with family members. None of those family members have exhibited any symptoms and the virus is only contagious if a person is experiencing active symptoms. As a result, the CDC considers him to be at minimal risk for having Ebola. It will take up to 48 hours to get test results back to determine if he tests positive for the Ebola virus, and it is the hope of everyone that the test is negative and he will return to full health soon. Fourteen other people, including clinic staff and facility patrons, were interviewed by Denton County health officials and ultimately released. We are proud of how the City of Frisco is working with local, county, state and federal health officials and we applaud the efforts of first responders who acted quickly to isolate the patient and contain the possible risk. The Frisco Fire Department followed proper protocols and procedures as advised by health officials, and they have been training for weeks on how to handle situations like these. We encourage all of our parents to monitor local news, and to be patient as health officials and local authorities work to determine and communicate the facts around this case. Spreading rumors and misinformation is dangerous and creates unnecessary fear. Please remember to read the information on our website regarding this virus and our ongoing protocols to help prevent the spread of disease and illness. Please know that we will communicate any updates with you and any potential measures that need to be taken. We will remain in contact with our local officials as we monitor this situation. Sincerely, Frisco ISD Administration
