Anyone know what religion Wittgenstein was raised in? He was of Jewish descent, or partly, but was from a converted family. Its always assumed that these conversions are nominal, as I think the Marx familys was, but the intensity of the self-contempt and judgementalism Wittgenstain expressed, and his devout belief in The Last Judgement (all expressed in Culture and Value) suggest that it was not nominal at all. One source said that Viennese Jews tended to convert to Methodism, which was neither Prussian nor Austrian.
